Üzerine uzun zamandır düşünmem gerekmeyen bir konu hakkında yakın aralıkla iki bağımsız sosyal çevrede söz söylemem gerekti. Pek yaşanan bir durum değil bu hayatımda. Her ne kadar çevreler aynı ortak hobinin kesişiminde olsalar da hem yaş hem de gelenek bakımından farklı kesimlerden geliyorlardı. İkisinden birinde kendi düşüncelerimle ortaklık bulabilmeyi beklerken yine marjinal kalınca durum hakkında biraz daha kafa patlatmam gerekti. Nihayetinde durum sosyal bir sorunu işaret ettiği kadar yaşadığımız dünyanın, hiç görülmemiş bir hızda nasıl değiştiğini de gösteriyordu.

Let's do satellites, launch balloons, bounce waves from meteorites, radiate airplanes, watch mini rockets spear through air and get new exciting people into the hobby without recreating the same mistakes of utility.

I am one of those so called “hams”. The ones you imagine with bright vests and cars sprouting antennas all over. You know, the ones you don’t like that much and casually mock in close circles. I am one of them, at least in my mind. Belonging to both world always got me thinking about the issues surrounding amateur radio’s hobby and service side.

Plastics suck.

This is will be my public list of finding new sources of plastic-less life.

Kitchen

Consumables in modern city kitchens is always attached to some form of plastic consumption. Either the whole product is made out of plastic for no particular inherit reason or warped with plastic only to be discarded as soon as main item is consumed. This makes it frustrating to buy glossaries, carry them only several meters and create a bag full long lasting waste.

This is a somewhat an ice breaker, a conversation starter, semi-joke story that I have told for a while now. My frequent companions heard this so many times, they simply talk to someone else or leave completely when I decide to take hostage new inocent audiences.

The Roman Empire jokes were and still are a common thing between my friends. Most noticeable one is “inviting” people who practices unexpected culinary choices to the north of the Alps. We also sometimes try to come up with some stupid proofs that culture only resides where Roman Empire has reached. My most prized joke is trying to pick a silly fight with anyone who comes from lands of western empire and compare the achievements of the eastern empire with them.
